Nadi Swedhanam

Herbal Steam bath

Nadi Swedanam is a unique form of swedana procedure, where perspiration is induced by passing a stream over the whole body or a specific part of the body by using a special instrument called a nadi sweda yantra. Nadi Swedhanam is a herbal steam bath treatment. Swedha, meaning sweat in Sanskrit, is a sweat-inducing treatment where the toxins are removed through sweat.

In this method, herbal leaves and herbs are boiled, and then the medicated vapours are passed to the steam chamber where the patient is made to sit, keeping the head out, for a period of 20 to 30 minutes. The steam will open up the pores of the skin, thereby removing all toxins. It is considered a great therapy for toning the skin and giving it a special glow. It also provides circulation for the body. After the procedure, the patient should take a hot bath. Food should be consumed after an hour.
